Policy & Progress

Exploring how energy, science, and technology can drive planetary progress

This page contains work I have done in the policy space both in an independent capacity and projects I contributed to within the Australian Government.

Policy Focus Areas

Environmental & Energy Abundance

Energy is the source of human flourishing, I believe in a world of abundant clean energy for all. Working on solutions to increase energy production without damaging planetary health

Biotechnology and AI

The convergence of emerging biotechnologies and AI will reshape industries, enhance human health and restore ecosystems. How do we scale these technologies to build a more sustainable world?

Scientific & Technological Progress

Advocating for increased public investment in R&D, improved science communication, and creating new institutions that drive greater innovation.

Previous Work

Australian Government R&D Review Submission by Nucleate Australia

Australia’s gross expenditure on R&D is significantly below the OECD average. This underinvestment hampers our ability to translate world-class scientific research into commercial and societal outcomes. To compete globally and build sovereign capacity in critical industries, including biotechnology, clean energy, and AI, we must uplift our national R&D intensity through bold structural reform and targeted investment.

Innovation for security: Why Australia needs its own DARPA

Australia should establish a national centre for breakthrough technologies along the lines of the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). An Australian Advanced Research Projects Agency (AARPA) is needed to stay competitive with other powers in the Indo-Pacific in artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing and biotechnology.
